You’ll have a great time, but don’t take our word for it…

Last time I was here was in 2019, and I am so pleased that the resort — which was already a fantastic experience back then — felt even better this time around. The staff all around the resort are incredibly friendly and super helpful. I really enjoyed my time. As for the diving, the reef has become even more beautiful, and there is more fish than I remembered from my last trip. It was an absolute pleasure to dive with our guide. On every single dive, I felt like I could just relax and have a great time because the profiles were perfectly adapted to us. Our guide is a great spotter with excellent knowledge of the local critters. I also really enjoyed the dive briefings and the incredible attention to detail. For example, after mentioning casually on the boat one day that I enjoy Coke Zero, there was a cooler stocked with it ready for me the very next day. I absolutely loved that level of personal care.

Absolutely marvelous experience, exceeded expectations. Snorkelling exemplary — I came to see living healthy coral and it was all so beautiful. The reefs are magnificent, variety of fish very good, including several resident octopuses on the house reef. Wonderful experience which I hope to repeat. My snorkel guide was brilliant; I felt very safe in their competent care with the currents. Very impressive — I felt very relaxed being able to enjoy the snorkel sessions from the boat, as our guide knew exactly when the currents changed and when to alter our direction. Our guide was friendly and fun, always smiling and very helpful with my photography. The resort is excellent, every attention to detail taken care of in the rooms, the restaurant, and the service. The staff are very good, helpful and courteous — nothing is too much trouble, they are always smiling and welcoming. Food great, air con great, rooms great. Thank you for everything — I plan to come back next year.

Week 1: My first week on the Pelagian was fantastic! The boat is beautiful and has so many special touches that I’ve never seen on any other boats. The crew couldn’t have been better. Our cruise director was wonderful — great presentations, always upbeat and helpful. She was also the first person to ever show me yellow damsel eggs. The dive guides were amazing! They found so many wonderful creatures and fish. I mainly dove with one guide who was impressive in every way — kind and helpful, and he handled many challenging situations underwater that helped other guests stay safe. He was extremely knowledgeable and found so many cool creatures. He also did a beautiful job of welcoming us when we arrived — very professional and a great person to represent Wakatobi and the Pelagian. Another dive guide was also excellent — he led two of my dives and found several critters I had never seen before, with great presentations and dive briefings, and was always upbeat and friendly. The boat crew couldn’t have been better — genuinely kind and thoughtful, and always there to help. They remembered every one of my little preferences, as well as those of the other guests, and went out of their way to make things special. The food presentations were beautiful and definitely top notch. I felt so safe with the crew watching after us — amazingly strong, with wonderful systems for getting us in and out of the water. One crew member looked after me when I was having trouble equalizing and had to come up early — such a kind person. The crew on the other boat were also always upbeat and friendly. Our chef was wonderful — I have a severe shellfish allergy and onion sensitivity, and he regularly made me separate food that I could safely eat and enjoy. I didn’t worry a bit. I also really enjoyed his cooking classes and printed recipes. I had fewer interactions with some other crew members, but they were always smiling and friendly and stepping in to help me.

Week 2: My second week on the boat was equally fantastic with new crew joining. One dive master was excellent — amazing at finding creatures and fish, and knew every fish and creature I was unsure about — always kind, friendly, and fun to be around. Another dive master was great too — very knowledgeable, and I loved his fish and creature presentations and learned quite a bit. Always kind and helpful. I also loved the entire crew coming at night to sing and play instruments — it’s obvious the crew love what they do and enjoy each other’s company.

I’ve just returned from a wonderful, amazing week at Wakatobi and plan to return. Your service and surroundings were extraordinary, and the diving sublime! A week I will always remember — thank you!

We had another amazing stay with you and will almost certainly be back for our 4th stay. All the staff are so friendly and helpful, and we love coming here. Extra gratitude for the front desk staff who were so helpful, the dive guide who was wonderful — keeping us informed and safe — and dive boat staff who were all extremely helpful and listened to our requests for gear setup. They work so hard and we appreciate all they do. The entire restaurant staff were wonderful. The cake they made for my 500th dive was so very much appreciated! We always find it so wonderful that they memorise all our names — it’s a very appreciated touch.

Every single person at Wakatobi has been exceptional! We loved everyone!!! Special thanks for the tour to see the local wildlife and bats, to all the wonderful dining staff and chefs, the terrific front desk team, and everyone in housekeeping and grounds. They all made it a joy to be here. Also special thanks to the team in Bali who met us and facilitated getting a lost item back to us.

Everything at Wakatobi was exceptional — all of the staff, from the dive crew to the dining team, building and grounds to the attendants facilitating our flights. I was floored when my request for coconut water was delivered with a fresh coconut cut right from the tree each day! Also so grateful that when I left my toiletry kit behind at the airport in Bali, you had almost everything I needed there in the bungalow. Loved that everything was eco-friendly, and also that you managed to find my kit and get it to me a few days later. I was amazed by the diligent attention to maintaining the grounds. Our dive guide was great — we found we could swim to many of the sites. We also loved learning about Tomia from one of the staff, and the front desk team were always pleasant and attentive.

Friendliest people I have ever met. I felt like the staff were members of my family. The dive team was professional and very safety-conscious. The dive boats are roomy and very stable in choppy seas.

When we stayed at Wakatobi resort, we were overwhelmed with the thoughtfulness of the resort’s planning, consideration of guest needs, and the personal touch of the dive and service staff. Arriving on the Pelagian for a week showed that Wakatobi’s planning and thoughtfulness was only the beginning — the Pelagian crew raised everything to new highs in personal attention, education, and good cheer. All standards have been far exceeded. The reefs themselves and the atolls are world class, as is the staff. There can be no better diving experience than to come to Wakatobi and the Pelagian.

Wakatobi may be the best-run resort we have ever been to. Add to that the best snorkelling we have ever done — including the Great Barrier Reef, Tahiti, Belize, Hawaii, etc. — and we had the trip of a lifetime. We are already talking about when we will be able to return. The service at every level was excellent: the accommodation, the dive guide, the equipment, the food — everything! This was all thanks to very friendly and competent people at every level. You have set a standard of service that others strive to achieve. Thank you for an unforgettable experience.
