Learn about our marine life

Learn the nuances of life on the reef by taking in an evening wildlife presentation. These informative and entertaining presentations will leave you with a heightened awareness of the marine life you may encounter during your stay in Wakatobi. Check the events board in the Longhouse to see what’s scheduled. Marine life identification slates are also available in our Boutique.

Helping our turtles with a head start

As part of our extensive conservation efforts, when we find turtle hatchlings on our beach they are immediately released into deeper water. This helps them to avoid the dangerous intertidal area, which is full of predators, and gives them a better chance for survival in the wild. The number of turtles on our reefs has seen a welcome increase since we began this initiative.

Savor the flavour with an Indonesian cookery class

Do more than just savor the delicious Indonesian dishes served in the resort’s restaurant. Working with our five-star resort chefs, you can learn the secrets to Sambal Olek, the region’s traditional chili and tomato relish, and watch the preparation of Kare Sari Laut, an Indonesian seafood curry accompanied by sambal fresh from the mortar and pestle.
