Our stay at Wakatobi Dive Resort was truly exceptional, and we enjoyed every single moment of it. From our perspective, there is absolutely nothing that needs improvement — every department delivered service at the highest possible standard, exceeding our expectations in every way. What makes Wakatobi truly special is its people. The staff not only perform their jobs with remarkable professionalism and efficiency, but they also genuinely care about their guests. Their kindness, warmth, and attention to detail made us feel welcomed, valued, and completely at home throughout our stay. Every team was outstanding — the restaurant and culinary staff, housekeeping, our butler, the diving team and our dive guide, the shop staff, and everyone else behind the scenes. Each department provided impeccable service and demonstrated an unwavering commitment to excellence. The diving operation was exceptionally well organized, professional, and enjoyable. Combined with the resort’s world-class hospitality, it created an unforgettable experience that we will always cherish. Wakatobi truly feels like a little paradise in the middle of the ocean, and it is clear that every detail has been thoughtfully designed to create a perfect guest experience. We had a wonderful time at your lovely resort! There is absolutely nothing you can do to make it better — it is perfect. All your staff are super kind, well trained, and we can see the Wakatobi spirit and culture in each of them. Our dive guide and the whole boat crew were excellent — he especially made our diving experience great because he is so knowledgeable, very patient, and kind. We would love to dive with him again in the future. The accommodation and food are excellent — so comfortable and well thought out. All of the above make Wakatobi very hard to beat. Well done on your excellent culture and philosophy — it carries through to all aspects of the resort.

Everything was absolutely incredible and top notch. Every staff member, regardless of role, anticipated our needs and desires throughout our entire stay. Many thanks to our dive guides for the week’s dives, and to the super talented boat captain and boat crew — they kept us safe and directed us to beautiful sites. The dining staff were just as attentive and anticipated our personal interests — so many wonderful people to thank. The tour was excellent and so informative. We enjoyed the daily activities and lectures, and the conversations with the team. The Jetty bar staff and the wonderful boutique staff were great too. Thank you! Our second trip did not disappoint. As always, the staff is what makes Wakatobi stand out. The personal attention and hospitality make us feel like family. Everyone either loves their jobs or pretends very well — so many other places show that the work wears on the staff, but not here. The restaurant crew and chefs were so friendly, with great food recommendations. Everyone in the dive shop and on the boats was so helpful and passionate. Our dive guide is one of the best dive guides we have worked with anywhere — so knowledgeable, and he found so many macro critters, and had so much patience allowing us to take all our photos. Another dive guide is a walking encyclopedia — we spent entire dives in one area where he would explain everything, which we appreciated so much. The reefs and creatures and fish are definitely my favorite in the world. Thank you for protecting them and providing livelihood and future options for the people in the village.

Week 1: My first week on the Pelagian was fantastic! The boat is beautiful and has so many special touches that I’ve never seen on any other boats. The crew couldn’t have been better. Our cruise director was wonderful — great presentations, always upbeat and helpful. She was also the first person to ever show me yellow damsel eggs. The dive guides were amazing! They found so many wonderful creatures and fish. I mainly dove with one guide who was impressive in every way — kind and helpful, and he handled many challenging situations underwater that helped other guests stay safe. He was extremely knowledgeable and found so many cool creatures. He also did a beautiful job of welcoming us when we arrived — very professional and a great person to represent Wakatobi and the Pelagian. Another dive guide was also excellent — he led two of my dives and found several critters I had never seen before, with great presentations and dive briefings, and was always upbeat and friendly. The boat crew couldn’t have been better — genuinely kind and thoughtful, and always there to help. They remembered every one of my little preferences, as well as those of the other guests, and went out of their way to make things special. The food presentations were beautiful and definitely top notch. I felt so safe with the crew watching after us — amazingly strong, with wonderful systems for getting us in and out of the water. One crew member looked after me when I was having trouble equalizing and had to come up early — such a kind person. The crew on the other boat were also always upbeat and friendly. Our chef was wonderful — I have a severe shellfish allergy and onion sensitivity, and he regularly made me separate food that I could safely eat and enjoy. I didn’t worry a bit. I also really enjoyed his cooking classes and printed recipes. I had fewer interactions with some other crew members, but they were always smiling and friendly and stepping in to help me.

Week 2: My second week on the boat was equally fantastic with new crew joining. One dive master was excellent — amazing at finding creatures and fish, and knew every fish and creature I was unsure about — always kind, friendly, and fun to be around. Another dive master was great too — very knowledgeable, and I loved his fish and creature presentations and learned quite a bit. Always kind and helpful. I also loved the entire crew coming at night to sing and play instruments — it’s obvious the crew love what they do and enjoy each other’s company.

We recently completed both legs of the Wakatobi experience — a liveaboard trip on the Pelagian followed by a stay at the resort — and the combination is hard to beat. Wakatobi Resort itself is world class. Diving here is genuinely no-fuss, whether you’re stepping into the house reef (which is fantastic in its own right) or heading out on one of the spacious resort dive boats. You don’t carry or lift a thing — the team handles all your gear from start to finish — and the operation is exceptionally camera-friendly, which divers who travel with photography equipment will really appreciate. Topside, the pace is relaxed, the meals are truly excellent — a foodie’s paradise — together with extraordinary service. It all adds up to a comfortable, well-supported diving holiday. What makes Wakatobi unique is that it operates its own liveaboard, the Pelagian, so guests can combine both styles of diving in one trip. Life aboard the Pelagian is more dive-intensive — four dives a day — interspersed with relaxed à la carte meals between dives. It’s a great way to maximize your diving and reach sites you simply can’t get to from shore. The way we did it worked perfectly: front-load the diving on the Pelagian, then ease back into the more relaxed rhythm of the resort. Few operators anywhere offer this kind of seamless combination, and it meant we got the best of both — intensity and exploration on the boat, and comfort and recovery at the resort. Highly recommended for divers looking for a complete, well-rounded Wakatobi experience.

We booked to come back here (in ’27) on our third day here. This is our second time here and knowing what to expect just gave us more things to look forward to — wonderful, friendly, professional staff for whom no detail is too small, fabulous food cooked and presented in such a way as to make you feel you’re having dinner with friends rather than in a restaurant. The rooms are extremely comfortable and characterful. The snorkelling off both the house reef and the boats is fantastic and probably can’t be beaten anywhere in the world. Wakatobi, you keep being Wakatobi. Big love!

Outstanding meals and service. Staff were amazing in being able to remember and greet all guests on a first-name basis. The boat and crew went above and beyond to handle any matter large and small. I forgot to grab a second battery pack from the camera room. While heading to the resort — not a scheduled stop — the water taxi delivered the battery from the camera room to the dive boat. Spa staff were exemplary with their touch and attention to guest needs, and their ability to work with and around injury sites with compassion and professionalism.

Last time I was here was in 2019, and I am so pleased that the resort — which was already a fantastic experience back then — felt even better this time around. The staff all around the resort are incredibly friendly and super helpful. I really enjoyed my time. As for the diving, the reef has become even more beautiful, and there is more fish than I remembered from my last trip. It was an absolute pleasure to dive with our guide. On every single dive, I felt like I could just relax and have a great time because the profiles were perfectly adapted to us. Our guide is a great spotter with excellent knowledge of the local critters. I also really enjoyed the dive briefings and the incredible attention to detail. For example, after mentioning casually on the boat one day that I enjoy Coke Zero, there was a cooler stocked with it ready for me the very next day. I absolutely loved that level of personal care.

Absolutely marvelous experience, exceeded expectations. Snorkelling exemplary — I came to see living healthy coral and it was all so beautiful. The reefs are magnificent, variety of fish very good, including several resident octopuses on the house reef. Wonderful experience which I hope to repeat. My snorkel guide was brilliant; I felt very safe in their competent care with the currents. Very impressive — I felt very relaxed being able to enjoy the snorkel sessions from the boat, as our guide knew exactly when the currents changed and when to alter our direction. Our guide was friendly and fun, always smiling and very helpful with my photography. The resort is excellent, every attention to detail taken care of in the rooms, the restaurant, and the service. The staff are very good, helpful and courteous — nothing is too much trouble, they are always smiling and welcoming. Food great, air con great, rooms great. Thank you for everything — I plan to come back next year.
