Mount Agung Eruption: Update

12 December 2017

To our valued guests and friends,

Our charter flight will continue through Bali Denpasar on 15, 18, 22 and 29 December 2017. Any changes to this route will be communicated to our guests as soon as possible.

Wakatobi Dive Resort is located 1000km/600 miles from the island of Bali, and guests will not be impacted by volcanic activity from Mount Agung while at the resort. The area in Bali that is affected remains very small posing no threat to Wakatobi's Bali office. Rest assured our team is safe and working diligently on your behalf.

Please know we are doing everything possible within our power to assure flights to and from the resort continue without disruption. If volcanic activity should change and impact flights in and out of Bali, we are continuously working on alternate arrangements to get you to the resort so that your holiday is not disrupted.

While we may have met with a [very rare] delay in the 17 years since we opened our direct air-connection from Denpasar to the Resort’s own private airstrip, we have never yet not been able to move guests who wished to travel out from Bali through to Wakatobi.

If any activities might cause guests to alter or cancel travel arrangements, we suggest they contact their travel insurance company for compensation of expenses that might be incurred by such cancellations. Our booking terms and conditions can be found here.

As an alternative, our guests can reach the resort by way of other airports, avoiding Denpasar and Bali altogether. By arriving into Indonesia through Jakarta, and then connecting through to Makassar (airport code UPG), it is then possible to make a daily flight from Makassar to Wangi Wangi in the Wakatobi islands (airport code WNI). From the airport on Wangi Wangi (WNI), it is a 2 to 4 hour ferryboat ride to the island where our resort is based.

If you are considering this alternative, we are more than happy to assist you in scheduling and booking the flights needed, along with other details of travel.
